Summary

The story we’re going to be talking about is called "Gombei and the wild ducks," by Yoshiko Uchida. This story is about Gombei and how he captures ducks for a living. He captures them so he could eat.  One day he was just so tired of working so he wanted to capture 100 ducks all at once, then he wouldn’t have to work for 100 days. One day, he learned his lesson when a person captured him as if he were one of those ducks, the same way he captured those poor ducks. He learned his lesson and isn’t going to capture any ducks anymore.

Character Analysis

Gombei is lazy and self-centered.  Gombei is lazy because when he was feeling tired, he wanted to capture 100 ducks so he wouldn’t have to work for 100 days.  He is self-centered because when he was thinking of capturing 100 ducks, he was only thinking about himself, not about the poor ducks.  This is how Gombei is self-centered and lazy.

Recommendation

We would recommend this story Gombei and the wild ducks to people because it will teach people a lesson on not to do anything bad, not even to nature because it is going to come right back to you no matter what it is or he or she is. Another reason we would recommend this story to someone is because it is entertaining for children. It’s entertaining because when you read it to a child they will actually listen. Even though we're not a children,  we're young adults, we know what stories are boring and entertaining and this book was surely an entertaining story. This is why we would recommend this story to anybody. Oh, and we would also give it a 5 star rating!
